Prophecy and divination were an important part of the founding of the Roman religion. The prophecies have been accused the oracles in the temple, the most famous is the oracle of Delphi. It was customary for the emperor to consult the oracles before making important decisions. An example of this is the origin of the Olympic Games, named after Mount Olympus, where gods were supposed to reside.
